Event Rules:

In order to have a safe and fun event, and promote a positive image for the breed, please ensure that everyone attending Texoma Bully Breed Outreach events understands the following. Attendees will be given the opportunity to correct the problem (i.e., borrowing a better collar or shorter lead). If the problem can’t be corrected, attendees will have to leave and come back another time.

Why rules? Well, we are judged more harshly than members of the Cocker Spaniel club. Also, many bull breeds do not like other bulldogs or other animals, period. I have had the experience where my dog was just fine in public until one day she hit 18 months old (even though she was spayed) and decided to start acting like a jerk in public. It happens. You are among other bull breed owners, so don’t be embarrassed. We can use it as a training experience if everyone is being alert and using the correct equipment.

-Children must be under the direct control of a parent or adult guardian at all times.
-The owner needs to be able to focus 100% on his or her dog. Which means that cell phone use, smoking or other distractions may lead to an accident.

Please Bring:
1. A secure buckle-type collar (no quick-release snaps). A 4 foot or shorter leash is highly recommended (Flexi or any leash longer than 6 feet is not safe). Or have a knot in your 6 foot leash and don’t use the whole leash. A crate is a really good idea. Dogs can’t be tied up in a public area. I don’t expect to see anyone using a chain as a leash or collar, but I have in other places – but just in case… this is not OK.
2. Your dog should wear his rabies tag, ID tag and city registration tag (if applicable). Carry the vaccination records just in case of an emergency.
3. Treats and water from home and dishes.
4. Poop bags – we will leave no doody behind! We must keep the area nicer than how we found it, or the venue will not allow us to return.

Please don’t bring:
1. Puppies under 4 months old, or any dog who is not fully vaccinated. Another dog may have left parvovirus in the grass, where it can live for months. Puppy sales are not allowed, regardless of age.
2. Females in heat.
3. Any human-aggressive dogs, period.
4. Any dog you cannot control. We don’t expect a bunch of obedience champions, as we are here to learn, but if cannot control your dog safely please start with private lessons before public events. If being in a park full of other bulldogs is overwhelming for your dog, there is nothing wrong with taking him home and starting more gradually. We have at least one professional trainer in our group who will be glad to suggest some next steps for you and your dog.
5. Anything that you wouldn’t want your grandma to see you wear. Expect to see the media and members of the general public at our events.
6. Alcohol is prohibited in public parks. Don’t bring anything you wouldn’t want your grandma to see you with, either.
